About the Newcastle Toastmasters Club

Read about out diverse history, fun culture and supportive education

What to expect

Our diverse membership consists of a wide variety of ages and backgrounds. Our purpose is to support each other to improve communication, self confidence and leadership skills. We also like to have fun. Our meetings are informal so visitors and new members may feel at ease.

Organisational culture and education

The environment in the Newcastle Toastmasters Club is friendly and supportive, with members who have all overcome fears and issues with public speaking through the proven Toastmasters International programme.

Confidence

This is self-paced education which allows you to build confidence with each speaking assignment. Constructive and supportive evaluation is the heart of the Toastmasters program. Each time you give a prepared or impromptu speech, an evaluator will point out strengths and suggest techniques that you may use in future. This gradually improves self confidence through awareness of skills you already possess and the practicing of new skills in front of a supportive group.

History

Newcastle Toastmasters Club was formed in 1966. We were the first Toastmasters club in the Newcastle Hunter region of NSW. As a not-for-profit community based organisation, our club proudly served our region for over 50 years.

We have many years of Toastmaster experience amongst our current club committee and members. We assist new members to build their self confidence in public speaking, communication and leadership in an enjoyable welcoming meeting format.
