Newcastle Toastmasters Club was formed in 1966 and we were the first Toastmasters Club in the Newcastle Hunter region of NSW. As a not for profit community based organisation, our club has proudly served our region for over 50 years. We have many years of Toastmaster experience amongst our current club committee and members who will assist new members to build their self confidence in public speaking, communication and leadership in an enjoyable and welcoming meeting format.
Our diverse membership consists of a wide variety of ages and backgrounds. While our purpose is to support each other so that we can improve our communication, self confidence and leadership skills we also like to have fun as well. Our meetings are informal so that visitors and new members will quickly feel at ease.
The environment in Newcastle Toastmasters Club is friendly and supportive, with members who have all overcome fears and issues with public speaking through the proven Toastmasters International programme. This is a self-paced programme which allows you to build confidence with each speaking assignment. Constructive and supportive evaluation is the heart of the Toastmasters program and each time you give a prepared or impromptu speech, an evaluator will point out strengths and suggest improvements that you may use in future. This gradually improves self confidence through awareness of skills you already possess and the practicing of new skills in front of a supportive group.
Toastmasters International currently has more than 357,000 members in 143 countries. Our members at Newcastle Toastmasters Club are proud to be one of the more than 16,600 clubs located around the world and of its service to the Newcastle area for more than 50 years.
